On most of the hikes I have been on so far, the hard part was the start where one has to climb to the top. In a canyon, this is turned on its head since the way up is on the way back. So going in I felt nervous - I was on my own, I was catching the last connection back and all the research I did only revealed warnings to use extra caution and take extra food and water. Despite that, I still found the signs pretty amusing; they were all trying to discourage you from going furthur. But eventually, I understood why - that steep incline with the direct sun heat is a challenge
